Do’s and Don’ts of Social Media Communication for Teenagers

Social Media is not a new notion to any of us now. Be it any age group, social media has left a mark on each one, whether a kid, Teenager, Adult, or Senior citizen.

We are all aware of its uses as this platform has connected the entire world in an extraordinary way. We can remotely be connected to each other no matter how far we are or which country we live in.

This platform allows users to share information, and conversations, create web content, etc. through virtual networks. It surely has a lot of advantages like:

· Students can research, learn, and grow.

· Daily news updates are received.

· Live streaming of important events.

· Teaches a lot about health issues and how to take care of them.

· Connects people from one country to another and helps them grow.

However, “all that glitters is not gold” and this platform also has a few disadvantages:

· Lack of emotional connect

· Hacking

· Cyberbullying

· Addiction

· Spreading of fake news etc.

But teenagers, who are the future of our country seem to ignore these aspects completely as they find it more beneficial than sticky. Social media is just a click away from the teenagers as each one has a small “idiot box” now in their pockets, which is not easy to get rid of.

Even if we try our best, we will not be able to get the folks away from it, but at least we can educate them on the do’s and don’ts of social media communication, so as to save them from any tragedy in the future:

Do’s

Don’ts

Do some research based on your subjects

Do not post a picture or video of someone else without their permission

Connect with people in a similar field as yourself

Do not give out any personal or confidential information

Post content that is informative and can attract more followers to you

Never provide any password or credit and debit card details online

Post your pictures and videos but only visible to your friends

Never share your school’s name and house number with any stranger online

View videos that are motivational and informative

Do not get into a habit of chatting and scrolling reels unnecessarily

These are just a few pointers that can be discussed with Teenagers; however, they can change and upgrade as per the understanding level of a teenager and the use of social media.
